The inspiration for Eddie’s Blends started in Portugal’s world-renowned Douro Valley in 2023 with the release of the 2021 vintage of Darkest Red. Several vintages later, we are now adding our second wine, Boldest Red, this time from Spain’s La Mancha wine region.

The Portuguese and Spanish wines are both blends. In the world of wine, some of the most interesting  and iconic – including the wines of the Douro Valley – are made from a blend of different grape varietals with each grape imparting a particular flavour and aroma. Blending a great wine is dependent on the skill of the winemaker in selecting batches of different wines in varying proportions to create the final blend.
